Savage

Savage was a busy mill town in the Northeast for more than 100 years. Textile mills began operating at Savage Mill in 1822. There are now several shops, galleries, and restaurants in the area. More than 100 dealers offer furnishings, accessories, collectibles, jewelry, artwork, ceramics, and more at the Antique Center at Savage Mill. The Horse Spirit Arts Gallery exhibits paintings, sculptures, photography, glass, mosaics, jewelry, ceramics, woodworking, fiber, and wearable art. Enjoy a drink and a bite after shopping at a Dive Bar & Grille. At the Autobahn Speedway, you can zip around two indoor Grand Prix-style tracks at speeds up to 50 mph. At Terrapin Adventures, you can climb, swing, and defy gravity. Bollman Truss Bridge is the only surviving example of the “iron truss” approach to bridge construction. Since 1887, this bridge has been a National Historic Landmark. One of the area’s favorite craft breweries is Jailbreak Brewing Company, known for its open kitchen and shareable plates.
